Re: Garnishments

If you have a judgment against you, a judgment creditor can ask the Court to issue a writ of garnishment to any person or entity (such as banks, corporations, etc.) that is in possession of money or assets that belong to you or are payable to you. However, if the language of the garnishment is limited to an employer, the garnishment may be subject to challenge. If it were successfully challenged, the creditor seek a new or an amended writ of garnishment. You may have a right to object to the garnishment based upon certain exemptions from execution if you are not too late to assert them. I suggest you seek the assistance of a Colorado attorney to assist you as soon as possible.
