Re: Name off of joint loans

If you signed on the loans, the creditors can hold you to your promises to pay. If the creditors won't voluntarily remove you from the loans, you may be able to sign an agreement with your significant other that gives him a certain amount of time to refi and get you off the loan, and if he fails to do it within that time, you could file a suit asking the Court divide ownership of these joint assets. I can't give a better answer than that without knowing more. I helped a woman in a similar situation a while back, but by the time we were done it cost almost $4,000.00. Eventually her ex-boyfriend refinaced and paid her money to purchase her interest in the property. My answering of this question does not create an attorney-client relationship between me and you.
