Legal Question in Criminal Law in Colorado

I have charges pending of 1st degree criminal trespass and domestic violence. This occurred in the house I own as a joint tenant with my girlfriend. We slept in the master bedroom and that was both of ours room. We had a fight and I slept in the spare room downstairs and the next morning she put a keyed lock on the door with all of my clothes, my tv, stereo, and bathroom necessities in there. I knocked and asked to get my personal property out of the room if she was going to put a keyed lock on the door and she never answered. I took the ladder which was at the front door, because I had been doing some work on the house the day before and climbed onto the balcony to see in the sliding glass door and also see why she didn't respond. She ran out of the room and left the property. About 30 minutes after she left I broke into the room and got my personal property and moved all of it into the spare room. Unknown to me she called 911 and hour after she left the property. She lied to police and told them I threatened to kill her and that she was afraid for her life. I have never threatened her and there was no signs of any struggle or bruising. She also told the police we had broken up 6 weeks prior and that I did not live in the master bedroom anymore. Can I be found guilty of trespass in my own home and domestic violence when I have no prior criminal charges or reports of domestic violence against me? I need some serious help and will lose my job and security clearance with a domestic violence charge. Was it legal for her to lock me out of our room? I had no clue it was illegal for me to break into a room in my own house or that I could trespass in my own house.

This is a serious charge. It is a felony 5 which can possibly send you to do prison time from 6 months to 8 years with a 2 year mandatory parole. You do need to contact a lawyer like me to help you.

From what you are describing you may have some good defenses.

You can always be convicted of such a crime but you will need a experienced lawyer like me to work towards getting you a 'not guilty" verdict or having the charges dropped.

You will have to invest in your future and yourself and contact a lawyer like me. You need to think what is the value of your freedom and loss of job opportunity and get the money to invest in a proper and effective defense.

Take care
