Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Colorado
Sexual discrimination based on gender
Iam being forced to resign a position I have held for 3 years at the same time the only other female in my department is being laid off. These lay offs have been immenent since October and since then I have recieved numerous complaints to management about myself, but my manager will not tell me who or what was said or let me defend myself. The other woman has the least senority of any staff member and I have the most. We both work night shift. Some of the male staff members have been allowed to work in marketing and given other opportunities that may lead to promotions that have never been offered to myself or this other woman. Our manager is male and the CEO is male. I have never before this time had any complaints against me. Is there a sexual discrimination case here and is it wrong for them to withhold the evidence that backs their supposed allegations of my wrong doing. There are a lot of other very sketchy behaviors being perpetrated against me but I will be brief and leave it at this.

Re: Sexual discrimination based on gender
When nothing else fits, the explanation could surely be sexual discrimination, or age discrimination, if it fits. Inasmuch as you are not being given any explanation, you might well come to the conclusion that sex discrimination is afoot. Try to get whatever evidence you can, while you are still at the company. Then you must file a complaint with the federal Equal Opportunity Commission, or your state's Fair Employment Commission.
