Legal Question in Employment Law in Colorado

Dispute on Final Paychekc

I was working for a farmer for 2 weeks. At the end of two weeks I quit without notice as I could foresee a big arguement as I was having a hard time getting along with him personally. I had given him the hours and labor that was required for the job but after I received my check and deposited it in the bank, he put a stop payment on it. Now I have checks bouncing. What actions do I take to get this settled, talking to him will not settle anything.

Re: Dispute on Final Paychekc

there is usually a small claims court in all counties - I forget the highest money amount, but I think it is about $2500. Just look in the telephone book blue pages and find small claims court under courts or county courts and call them on how to do it. It works kind of like the People's Court, but without the snide comments.

You will want to have ready any proof of the work, the payment and the bounced checks.

good luck

if it is over the limit, then you may need a lawyer - it looks like you may be in Adams county and I am often there - call me if you like.
