Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Colorado

Hello. We rented from a property management company and I am getting the feeling that they are going to try to keep our full deposit. They also charged us a deposit fee for a service animal. I believe they are trying to also lie about why they will have to keep it, for instance, they said they changed the locks but I saw them and they weren't changed. What could we do?

First, you need to understand that re keying a lock does not change what it looks like, so unless you tried an old key, you don't know if they were changed.

The landlord is required to provide you with a written accounting of your deposit within 60 days or return the deposit to you. When you receive the accounting you will be able to see what you are being charged for. Hopefully you took pictures or video of the condition of the property when you moved out so that you can compare your evidence with the charges claimed.
