Legal Question in Personal Injury in Colorado

Found to be no-fault by police, but contacted by attorney anyway

I was involved in an incident in October where a woman claimed I hit her and her baby in a stroller while I was in my car. The officers on the scene said there was no evidence of injury, contact or anything and stated that they felt I was being set up for a lawsuit.

I took pictures of my car and wrote out a statement at home on the day this occurred.

Today I was contacted by an attorney representing this woman via mail. In the letter he stated that I was at fault and was required to hand over my insurance information or my license would be suspended. I contacted the DMV and they informed me that there was no record of an accident on my drivers license and that they are the only ones that can demand for my insurance information.

I also went and picked up a copy of the report filed by the officers. In this report, it states, ''NO ACCID'', and ''NO INJURIES WHATSOEVER'' and ''EVIDENCE SHOWED NO CONTACT BETWEEN DRIVER AND STROLLER'', ''NO RPT'', ''NFAT''.

My question is, do I need a lawyer? Should I be concerned? Is there a case when the police report indicated that I am not a fault?

Thanks.

IF you have car insurance, they will defend your case for you. Especially on these facts, I doubt that they would use this case to raise your rates or otherwise change your car insurance. Call your agent.

Otherwise, I suggest you have an attorney. Civil rules are a little tricky and your failure to follow them may result in a judgement against you.
