my son was injured in an auto accident is there a time limit to settle for personal injury?

There's never a time limit to settle, but there is a time limit to file a claim. That generally would be three years -- and not necessarily from the time of the accident, but from the time the physical injury is known, or should have been known.

There are a variety of statutes of limitation depending on the type of case. If there is an allegation of intentionally causing injury, then it is usually one year, but otherwise, it is usually 3 years from date of accident. What needs to be done by that date? File the lawsuit. If you do not have an attorney, you should get one.
