Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Post judgement attorney motion to withdraw

A friend just received a notice that

her attorney filed a motion to

withdraw from representing her after

a judgement was made to modify her

divorce agreement. She still owes her

attorney for services which she will

pay. My question is, is this common

when a case is closed for the time

being and how will this affect future

court dates if any? There is also

nothing that my friend knows of that

her attorney indicated prior to this

notice that she would no longer

represent her.

Re: Post judgement attorney motion to withdraw

Why doesn't your friend just ask the attorney?

I can not speculate on why she is withdrawing after modification post-judgment.

As far as future court dates, your friend can ask to retain her again (if she is willing) or your friend will have to move on.

No, it's not "common," but it also isn't unusual.
