Legal Question in Employment Law in Connecticut

discrimination discharge

I was just fired because the company found out I knew of illegal practices and fraud they were conducting with our

manufacturer, and they are afraid I will report them(which I did). The day after someone told them I knew about this they fired me. Also, the president of the company came outside after me spitting and calling meobsene 4 letter words, and ponding on my car laughing at me and scared me. I have worked for the company for 8 years. Do I have a case against them?

Re: discrimination discharge

You probably have a cause of action for assault (the car-pounding incident) though the amount of damages is questionable. As for the termination, it depends on what kind of illegal practices you exposed and to whom you exposed them. Whistleblower statutes generally protect the reporting of conditions immediately dangerous to the public and discrimination. Reporting of other behavior may or may not be procted depending on the facts. I would need more information to tell you for sure.

Good Luck,

Tom
