Legal Question in Military Law in Connecticut

Military academy dismissal

I would like to know what rights I may or may not have when it comes to the US Coast Guard Academy. I attended the USCGA from Jul-1993 til May-1997. I was dismissed from the academy for disciplinary reasons. I was given an opportunity to complete my degree but failed one course not even in my major. Now In order to complete my degree, I must attend a regular university for two years when, If the USCGA were a regular university I would never had been kicked out or even if I were, I would at least be allowed to re-enroll and continue. Is it possible for me to sue them for a chance to complete my degree and for lost income from being kicked out 3 credits short of my Electrical engineering degree? Please advise.

Re: Military academy dismissal

I do not believe you have grounds for a lawsuit. If you were given a chance to complete and failed, I think you were given all you were entitled to.

This is my opinion based on your facts. Other attorneys may have another opinion.
