Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Connecticut

I had a UGMA/CT account that was established after an uncle passed away and left me a large sum of money. My mother was the custodian of the account, but we have been estranged for years. I know that the account was closed in June of 2002, but do not know how much was in it at the time, nor do I know what happened to the funds after the account was closed.

How do I go about getting the funds back from my depleted UGMA account.

Why was the account established AFTER the uncle passed away? Part of uncle's will? The probate court would have jurisdiction of the account, but you need some specifics.
