Legal Question in Consumer Law in District of Columbia

bank error

I applied for a cash advance from my equity line of credit, which the bank approved. Less than a month later they sent my name to a collection agency for collecting of what they approved.

Seems like they closed the account without notifying me prior to their granting of my request. They also threathened me with court action but have yet to see it through as I have not received any other notification.

What can I do to clear my name and can I take them to court for actions they have done.

Re: bank error

Yes, if your credit has been provably damaged by the bank's action, you may have several bases to sue them under federal credit as well as state consumer protection laws.
