Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in District of Columbia

Is it legal for my landlord to threaten to evict me because I called the police on the so called resident manager for entering my apartment for non emergency purposes? We had no previous noticfication that there was a new resident manager. However the day after the police was called we received a notice at our door saying that she was the new resident manager. Also she has been putting rent increase notice in our mail box.

My landlord is also trying to make me sign a new lease which will double my rent and cause me to pay as much rent as the rest of the tenant because I called the police.

If you made an honest mistake and called the police, no, he cannot evict you for that reason alone. It sounds like, however, there is more to this situation than you are revealing. I STRONGLY recommend that you hire an a real estate attorney to review your lease and advise you of your rights and legal options.

Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.********
