Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

branch office

Is there a true definition of the term for a branch office? I am part of a state organization where the state office is located in a large city, but there are multiple directors that sit on the board of this organization and we work from our home...representing this company. Our emails are sent to the main office but then routed to our home office. I have been signing my name and title along with the city I reside in and the word Branch Office afterward. I have been told I can't do this and I was wondering if it is a legal thing or if technially, the directors are working from their home offices which is where the majority of their work comes from..an annex of the state office.

Re: branch office

I think that "branch office" would designate a place where people come to transact business with the company -- not just where a person resides and signs or reviews records. I think the company is correct to state that you should not sign your name with your home city and the phrase "branch office." As you describe it, it is not.
