Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida

Defamation of Character

I have a next door neighbor who is telling everyone in my community lies about my husband and me, basically defaming our character. He is doing this because we placed a backyard fence that prohibits him from coming over so freely like he used to. Then he wrote letters to us stating that they were from the county and city in which we live in. To make a long story short, the chief of police told him to stop harrassing us, but he continues to do so. What can we do? Attorney fees are costly, what can we do on our own? HELP!

Re: Defamation of Character

You can always file a lawsuit against this man yourself (pro se), although I don't recommend it. My advice is to contact an attorney.
