can i be sued for a car that doesn't belong to the person who is sueing me?

I live in Florida and I am being sued for a car I got into an accident with, however the person sueing me is not on the insurance and registration. The car was not owned by her. It was owned by her father. Can she sue me for damages to this car in the state of Florida even though the car does not belong to her?

Usually this cannot be done as the 'real party in interest' must do the suing. It is possible, however, that the father assigned his rights to the daughter. Don't you need a lawyer?
