Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Last Date of payment

I called a creditor that was on my credit report and they said that the last payment was reported on 1/21/01. Now I have someone claiming to be an attorney calling me. I thought when the debt hit the 7 year mark it had to fall off and not be on the credit report anymore. If that is true, how do I get them to remove it from my credit report and stop calling me?

Re: Last Date of payment

You write the credit agency and ask for removal. There are 3 major credit agencies. You don't contact the creditor. As for stopping the creditor from calling, write them a letter that they cease and desist under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If you need more information or a consult, please contact my office.
