Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

While in Florida, (Ilive in NY State), I had heart problems, a doctor treated me knowing I had no insurance. I spoke with his office and we set up a payment plan. After making 3 payments which they accepted and cashed the checks, they turned me over to a collection agency. Due to the fact that I couldn't pay the collection agency in full they in turn notified the credit bureau that I had an unpaid debt. This has affected my credit standing, do I have any recourse in this matter?

What recourse should you have? Maybe I misunderstand you, but it sounds like you have a legitimate, outstanding debt, which they legitimately put on your credit. Do you mean to say that they violated your payment arrangement by turning you over to collections while you were still making payments according to your agreement? If so, have you spoken to the doctor's office? You may have a case against them for credit slander.

No. You have an outstanding debt. There was no agreement as I read your post about not reporting you rto the credit bureaus.

I am from Glens Falls originally. I see by your zipcode that you live in HF. You could try to contact the doctor's office and ask if they'll get you back on a payment plan. If you can work something out with them, they may also agree to remove the delinquency from your credit report by contacting all of the major credit reporting agencies.
