Hello I lend money to a friend, can I do do some legal document that covers me?

He told me that he will pay me last August and in August tolde me that he will in February, I want to know if I have any legal rights to get my money back.

You have nothing in writing? You can try to get him to sign a promissory note. If he made those promises to pay via e-mail or text, save them.

Need a little more info. Was this in cash? Do you have anything in writing that money was given - ie emails? On what date was the money loaned to him? Has he paid anything at all? If the time has expired, you need to get him to pay you something in order to get the time to start tolling again. Verbal contracts 4 years - written 5 years.
