Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

I sold someone an item on craigslist and accepted a personal check for payment. The check bounced and the person I sold to is giving me the run-around. Do I have any recourse? Thanks.

Yes, you can take the person to small claims court, or you may ask your state attorney to file criminal charges. Depending on the amount, and whether or not the person with the check knew of the balance on their account, they could be charged with a crime.

If you haven't sent the item yet, don't send it. If you have sent it, you can file a small claims action and/or seek to file a criminal charge.
