Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

No bond in jail for year with no trail date yet

My friend has been in jail with no bond for a year. He has two counts of homicide and his trail date keeps getting pushed backed. They have one witness no evidence, and the witness should be the one in jail for it. How long can this go on for, and what should he do because he is innocent.

There are decisions to be made by your friend's attorney. There are ways to bring the case to trial, but murder trials are both serious and complex. It can be strategic legal decisions that delay the matter. Otherwise a speedy trial demand can be made, though usually delays can help the defense in a variety of ways. I do work in Florida and have colleagues that specifically do capital cases if your friend is in need of a consultation.
