Re: getting a court date

It depends on your county and judge. Some counties have a real that says that non-lawyers have to set court dates through "case managers" or other officials. Your clerk's office may be able to tell you how to set a date or at least point you in the right direction.

If you do have to call the judicial assistant (the "judge's secretary"), you should get three or more available dates, then call the other side to clear one of the dates, then call back quickly to let the judge's office know which dates both sides have agreed on.

The judge and his/her staff have nothing to do with assigning court dates. The clerk of courts is assigned that task. Contact the Clerk to determine your court date. If you continue to encounter problems, hire an attorney. Good Luck.
