Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I've been on probation for misdemeanor petty theft in leon county, florida, and i violated from testing positive on a drug test. Apparently the vop went to the judge and the warrant was signed but I haven't been told to turn myself in. Its been two weeks since I last spoke/or complied to my PO and probation. I'm contemplating running to the west coast. Will florida extradite me from across the country? Also how long would it be before I could come back.

First of all, if you left you could NEVER come back without dealing with the warrant. Only your PO knows the exact answer but oftentimes they wait to file to make sure you don't do something stupid like leave. So your PO may decide not to file if you complete your other conditions.

You probably would not be extradited for a misdemeanor VOP, but you would be held in jail for up to 30 days until it was addressed. Additionally, you would never be able to return to Florida without the case being resolved. And if you do leave and fail to report for probation at your next scheduled appointment, that too can be added as a VOP. Finally, if you abscond, then that will be taken into consideration and you'll likely be denied a bond. The best thing for you to do is hire an attorney and turn yourself in now. That'll give you a lot of credit with the court.
