Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I understand that Casey Anthony can never be tried again for the murder of her daughter but why can't she be tried for child neglect and the improper disposal of a body?

Without intending to be snooty, I ask, why do you care? Leave her alone. It is not your responsibility to prosecute her and you have no responsibilty towards the care of Caylee Anthony. She won and the state lost. She played by the rules and so did the state. You need to get over it. The same rules that protected her, protect you and every one of us.

As to your question, she cannot now be tried for child neglect because that would be double jeopardy. It is complicated to explain, but they would have had to charge that originally, and the state did not. As to the improper disposal of a body, where is the proof of that? You assume that Casey disposed of the body, but is there proof beyond a reasonable doubt? I don't think so. And again, there is probably a double jeopardy issue as to that charge as well.
