The ramifications are that you will have an adopted child who has no mother any more as you will not be married.

There's a reason, I suppose?

None. Child would be same as a child born to the two of you.

Although a divorce will not hurt your adoption, it would border on being a fraud to induce your spouse to adopt a child only to then file for divorce against your spouse. Although there may not be a law against what you are doing, it is morally and ethically wrong unless your spouse is in total agreement. The legal ramnifications include payment of child support for a child that was never meant to be part of a family. Further, child custody and visitation issues will arise during the divorce. You should give this serious thought before proceeding.
