Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

We've been married 24 years and are separating with possible divorce. We own the house with no mortgage and it is both of our names. Will I get half of what the appraised value of the home is if we don't sell it?

That is certainly a possibility.

I think you should speak with a divorce attorney to get a full review of the possible outcome. There may be many other issues that will need to be resolved in addition to the home. Many divorce lawyers (including my law firm) will offer a free initial consultation for this type of situation.

You need a one-on-one meeting with information being fully disclosed.

The DOM Judge may award half the value to you, but if the other party has no fund to pay from the only alternative may be to order the property sold, you then would pay half the cost of the sale including realtor fees.
