Legal Question in Medical Leave in Florida

What can I do?

Up until last week I worked for a company as a cook. I worked there for a year. My girlfriend was due to have my son on may 4th, but had an appointment to be induced on May 3rd. I told them 2 weeks in advance about the induction and they said I could have 3 days off. Well, when it came down to it, they only gave me May 3rd off and said that I had to work the rest of the days I was promised off. The head cook's wife gave birth 2 months prior and they gave him 3 days off, no problem. What can I do about his, if anything? They have also done other illegal things to me, but I don't have enough room to list everything.

Re: What can I do?

As the the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), my first question would be did the employer have 50 or more employees? Without 50 employees, the employer is not covered by FMLA and the denial of leave is probably legal. If there were over 50 employees, and as to the "other illegal things" you mention, you should discuss these matters with an attorney and decide if pursuing this is worth it to you.
