Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

So I bought a 50cc scooter from this guy off of Craigslist and he gave me the title but we didnt know we had to fill it out. So he signed and printed his name on the form and I was hoping to get my own plates and regerstration but that wasnt able t happen because my paretns werent helpful nor supportive in that goal (Im 18 and no nothing about title transfers) I have my license and have been driving it around quite a bit for a few months under his name, plates, and tags. When I bought the bike it had around 4,000 miles on it which I now realized I had to put on the title when the sale happened. Now the bike has over 10,000 miles on it and is passed the 30 day mark. would I be looking at jail time or just a money penality? Anything would be great thank you.

If he signed it, just fill out the title with the current information and take it to the DMV and keep your mouth shut. You should not move the cycle until you have plates andd insurance in your name. If that means taking the bus or walking, well I guess you will learn the bus routes. After you have plates and insurance, then you can drive your scooter to your hearts content. But not before.
