Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

I would like to hire an uninsured person to cut down a tree for me. He told me he would sign a waiver releasing me from any liability, including injury to himself or damage to the neighbor's dwelling. Would this waiver protect me?

Impossible to answer without reading the waiver. My professional opinion is "I don't know. Seek a second opinion from a lawyer who practices personal injury or insurance law so he or she can read the waiver. Be prepared to pay for that lawyer's opinion." My personal opinion as a homeowner is "no. Hire a reputable company to take down the tree."

A waiver cannot waive your subsequent unknown negligence that causes him injury. His waiver will not protect you if he damages your neighbors house. Hire someone who has insurance to protect you.
