If I loan someone musical equipment and they sign a document stating that they will assume responsibility for any damages and compensate me for the cost of the equipment is that legally binding in the state of Florida?

Potentially yes. The document should be reviewed by an attorney to make sure it is complete in all its terms. Things to consider, time for loaning of equipment, current condition of equipment and acceptance of it in that state, what does 'compensate me for the cost of equipment' mean? do they have to replace? repair? normal wear and tear excepted from the damages issue? Not as easy to answer as you might have thought.
