Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Skateboard

Grandson received new long board (skateboard) for Christmas. Friend drove him hom from skateboarding. Grandson left board in friends car.

Friend got in fight with his mother. Mother took car away and thru out new skateboard.

We called police who filled out report. Mother admitted throwing out board. Said she was not going to accumulate other peoples junk.

Does she have the right to throw out other peoples property like that? Board was at her house one night.

Re: Skateboard

This may involve a claim for conversion, essentially the value of the board at the time of it being discarded.

Small claims court.

Good luck.
