Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Can I sue an attorney for not representing me? She asked me if I wanted her to represent me, and to not come to court, she would handle it. But she did not show up and I lost over $6000. She kept saying after that she would try to get a rehearing since they did not formally tell me of the hearing. Then over a month after the hearing she tells me to get another lawyer, she's too busy. As far as I can tell its too late to get a rehearing now.

Did you retain the attorney or not? Do you have a contract with the attorney specifying the work to be done? If you never actually retained the attorney you likely don't have a claim. If you did and nothing was done, you might. You actually need to consult with yet another attorney to determine if there is a claim. The loss of $6000 makes the case less than attractive to a new attorney.

Would have to review the documents to see if anything can be done. Your remedy might be a Complaint with the Florida Bar.
