Re: Copyright a song/words

The forms to register copyrights are available on the Copyright Office web site, http://www.loc.gov/copyright/

You may want to have a lawyer assist you if there are any questions that arise.

The Copyright Office's instructions regarding music melodies and lyrics are at

http://www.loc.gov/copyright/circs/circ50.html#application.

You should have a copyright lawyer prepare the application the first time you do it. After that, you may be able to do it yourself. The Government fee is $30, attorney fees vary from $100-$500 so look carefully.
