Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Being on call without pay

Our labor agreement with our company requires us to carry beepers once every 6 to 8 weeks on our week off with out pay, unless we are called to work.We work a week on week off schedule on our Tug Boats and are at work 24hrs. a day. During the weeks we have to carry the beepers we must be with in 1hr of work, cannot drink alchohol, etc. My question is is this legal for a company to require you to do this with out pay.

Re: Being on call without pay

Its 100% legal since it was contractually bargained for by your elected representative, your Union. If you want to point the finger anywhere, point it at them!
