Can an employer refuse you employment....

Because of your hair? Length, Style, Texture, etc.

In certain circumstances, an employer can have a policy that covers grooming issues where an employee deals with the public. The policy would have to be enforced uniformly. I would have problems with a policy that covered hair "texture" though. For a more detailed answer I would have to know the actual policy this employer had, the job duties of the employee and how the policy was enforced.

Yes . . . there is no law in Florida, nor any Federal law, that prohibits an ER from regulating hair in the workplace in terms of length, style, etc. However, if this a pre-text (cover up) for racial or other discrimination, it would be improper.
