Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Hello, my name is Logan, I play in a band in Ocala fl. Another artist, jeremy, asked another member in my band and i to play a show for him in Jacksonville Florida. He promised to pay us 400 each via saved messages. He does not provide transportation to Jacksonville. A four you drive for two seventeen year olds with no jobs is a big deal. On account he promised to pay us fifty each up front. After the show he claims "I do not have the money, I am sorry, I will write you a check when we all get back to Ocala." We inform him that we needed to be paid so we could get gasoline so we could actually get home. He still denies us money. Me and my band mate play on the streets of Jacksonville for five hours to raise money. We make it back to Ocala safely. We call Jeremy but he blocked our numbers. We finally contact him two weeks later, he tells us he will not pay us any amount of money. Do I take tho to legal matters? Do I have a valid case?

You can file a small claim against him or you can retain a lawyer like me to send a demand letter to him or maybe file a small claims case.
