Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
My boyfriend and I are in a one year lease with Coldwell Banker with 5 months remaining. He suffers from seizures and is currently medicated. However, in the last month the lighting in the house has started to "flicker" quite frequently from what I can only assume is faulty wiring. Its an 50 yr old duplex that still uses the glass round fuses and definitely not up to code with the outlits. This flickering has caused my boyfriend many times to "not feel good." There is nothing in our lease that tells us how we may terminate the lease early or the penalty for doing so, but in fear of what might happen medically to him and for potential fire hazards, we need to vacate. With proper notice, can we legally break the lease without penalty, and if not, what steps could we take to make it so?

The flickering of the light can cause seizures and therefore you should leave. What does the lease state about leaving. You say is does not but Coldwell Banker has a standard lease and you need to read it.
You should have your lease reviewed by an attorney. Dont just leave and hope you will be correct.
