how fast or how much time will it take a land lord to put me and my 2yr. old grandson out doors if i fall behind on my rent and she wants to evict us?. she charges 75.00 the first day and 10.00 each day after that.,that you are late.i am on dissability and have no other income to ever catch up. will a judge give us time enough to save up for a better, more reasonable place that won't charge all those crazy penalties?

The short answer is that, no, a judge will not give you more time to save up for another place. A judge must uphold the law, and the law says if you don't pay rent, the landlord can evict you.

However, a landlord must properly evict you. The LL must deliver a written notice to you (can be posted on your door) giving you three days to pay before the LL will start eviction proceedings. Once eviction proceedings are initiated, you have the ability to go to court and answer the complaint. However, in order to contest an eviction for failure to pay rent, you must deposit back-owed rent into the registry of the court pending outcome of the case. If the judge orders the eviction, a sheriff deputy will put a notice on your door giving you 24 hours to vacate the premises or you will be removed by the police.
