Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

My kitchen has been completely removed due to termite infestation which resulted in the upper cupboards falling off the wall over two weeks ago.

i have no sink no stove no counters. my landlord has done very little to remedy this situation and now informs me that it will be at least two more weeks because he hasn't even ordered the new cabinets yet.

my walls have been opened up and all the wood removed leaving my bathroom wall leaning precariously into my kitchen with nothing supporting it. do i still have to pay full rent? i paid my rent on time as always 6 days after this nightmare began 16 days ago! help!!

Maybe, but it's a toss-up. My advice to is seek legal help from the local legal aid folks. Although Florida statutes apply throughout the state, local ordinances may provide you additional avenues to seek relief. I'd be willing to bet that this is true in Broward County. Go online to find the Broward county Legal Aid folks.

I believe you are entitled to either a lease termination or rent reduction. Either you or your attorney should follow the requirements of FS 83.56. In the mean time you can pay rent into the court clerk. Good luck.
