Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

Is there a set time frame for my landloard to return my security deposit of $775.00+ $ 400.00 for 3 ceiling fans that he agreed to pay me for that I installed. It has been over 30 days since I moved out now living on the east coast of florida about 180 miles away.

Yes! Notice must be sent within thirty days of termination of the lease. But, the fans are a different matter. Did you get that agreement in writing? As far as the $775 is concerned, the landlord must send you a certified letter within 30 days of the end of your lease if he intends to keep any part of your security deposit. If he doesn't send the letter to your forwarding address or to your last known address (probably the place you rented from him), he can't keep any part of the deposit. You may have take him to small claims court to get your money, though. The ceiling fan money doesn't fall under the 30-day rule, so that will also probablt have to go to small claims. You have to go to small claims in the county where the rental property is located or where the landlord is located unless the lease says otherwise.
