Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

We told our landlord about our roof leaking in our bedroom in several spots over a week ago and he has yet to do anything about it. Now rent is due and he still won't fix it nor provide no smoke detector in our home either. Can I serve a 7 day notice to repair to him? He also keeps raising the rent and tells us through text message. He threatens with eviction all the time. Also, he says that he is co owner of this townhouse and I looked it up and his name is no where on the sales slip in the court house. He also claims that the co owner is out of town. I think he is sub renting it to us and the true owner don't know about it. What can we do about this? He signed the other mans name on the lease saying that he was busy.

Read your lease. You should also serve the 7 day notice to repair and seek a reduction of rent in court.

I also think I would be looking to rent elsewhere.
