This is a difficult question to answer. If the case in litigation or possibly will lead to litigation, negotiating your bills will possibly lead to a reduced jury award or settlement.

hard to assess. cases can be settled for the entire policy limits and the bills have to be resolved after that within the limits available. so sometimes settlement occurs and then the bills are resolved. sometimes the doctor or health care provider does not cooperate and the bill amounts have to be held in trust pending resolution of the bills even though the settlement money is received.
