Re: motorcycle accident

It depends. If the person that hit you is in another state, you can usually sue in that state. If the person that hit you was a Florida resident, you will need to sue in Florida where the defendant lives.

Dear Sir (or Ma'am):

Generally, the answer is "no". Unless, of course, that the person who was negligent happened to be a Kentucky resident as well.

In the past, litigating a case from another state was a big hassle in terms of the distance. However, so much of the practice of law can be done electonically (email, video conferencing, etc.) that it matters much less anymore.

I currently represent several clients here in Florida who are residents of other states such as Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

Feel free to give me a call if you'd like to discuss your potential case further. I'd be happy to speak with you to let you know your options.

Take care,

Len Haberman

Re: motorcycle accident

You can have a lawyer from another state if he is licensed to practice law in Florida. It is best to consult with a lawyer in the state in which the accident happened.
