Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

I was the passenger in a car that was rear ended . I hired an atty. but I get the feeling that he does not have my best interests at heart . If I decide to change lawyers what happens to the files ( he has all the medical bills , etc.. ) . I know he has the right to present a bill for his services , but he was hired on a contingency basis . what is the down side of letting him go ?

You are entitled to the return of your personal papers if you fire the attorney. The attorney gets quantum meruit once the contingency is met. That means the value of his services. Why not discuss your concerns with the current attorney before making the decision? If the case is limited in value due to the injuries or insurance coverage, than hiring a new attorney can ultimately cost you some money in your pocket because both attorneys will need to get paid.

You can recreate all your bills easily by contacting the providers.
