Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

My Mother invested 150K for 5acres of property in CO, to a real estate developer in NM, 7yrs ago. She has a promissary note for the $150K &he; was supposed to be paying her interest every month on that note. Her 5 acres was just one parcel of bigger subdivision they were building. She has not received any monthly interest payments. And he has not answered her calls in the last couple years. Supposedly he filed for bankruptcy and/or foreclosed on the entire property. I have found no such public records in either state. or record of his company. She lives in FL, how do I go about collecting on this debt for her? What area of law would this fall under? And which state do I seek a lawyer?
