Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

I just moved out of a property where the landlord is holding my deposit and refuses to give it back due to I had a police report made stating the issues of the property which included mold. I was advised by the police officer to file a lawsuit due to the health issues I, my fiance, and our 3 boys (6, 4, and 2) have been having especially since I'm a diabetic. What would be the best way to go about this and what can I really do. I have images of the mold as well as other issues with the property. I NEVER stopped making payments and just asked for the issues to be resolved.

Did your lease end at the time specified in the contract? If so, the landlord is required to impose a lien within 30 days on the security as required by law. If he does not do that than he loses his right to impose the lien. The issues you reference are irrelevant to that issue. If you broke the lease because of the problems referenced you are going to have issues. Seek some legal guidance.
