Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

I purchased a house and paid in full cash. The house had a non working AC system. At closing it was discussed that the AC unit could be fixed for minimal fee. After closing I returned to the house and found that the AC unit was stolen. I asked the owner to file a police report and insurance claim so we could recoup the loss on the AC unit. He did and asked us to get estimates, we did...the cheapest was 5300...his deductible 2500. when he recieved the payment of $2780 he decided it was his to keep and is not paying us or replacing the stolen AC unit. I feel he was paid twice for the unit, when I bought the house and again from the insurance company,....I am out a unit that I purchased with the house. Am I correct?

Agree. In case the deal was closed, why u allowed the ex-owner to file insurance claim? why not you? In case there is specific for the AC unit in the deal, u r entitled to get back the amount
