Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

Hello. I was involved in a collision at an intersection, not cited by the officer at the scene and have been summoned to appear as a witness involving the other drivers citation. I am curious about what traffic laws were broken so that I do not get into trouble at the court.

The accident occurred during a green light after waiting at the red light. I was traveling across the intersection straight as the other driver facing the green light opposite me was preparing to turn left. He had moved far past the crosswalk into the intersection at the red light and his vehicle was facing toward his left. I drive very small vehicle and there was a large box truck ahead of me at the light. The left turning driver did not wait for the truck to exit the intersection before moving forward and hit my driver side door as I crossed behind the truck. He was ticketed for failure to yield right of way. Is it illegal to move into an intersection at a red or green circle light in preparation for turning left? Is it illegal to proceed into said turn before traffic has cleared the interaction ? Is there a law governing my distance behind the large truck through the intersection?

Thanks for your help.

Your only obligation is to go there and tell the truth as you remember it. There is nothing to get in trouble for unless you lie.
