Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

Going around a patrol car with their lights on...

I wanted to make a right turn at an intersection. The police had the turn lane blocked, and the road I wanted to turn onto had the right two lanes blocked. Traffic from my left traveled through the intersection and passed the blocked area in the far left lane. While I waited in the right lane of my road, the police picked up their cones, got in their cars, and began to leave the scene. At this point my light turned green, so I began to make a righ turn around the patrol cars into the far left lane of the road I wanted to turn onto to. The one office turned their lights off, but the other pulled me over and told me I was breaking the law. I have never heard of such a thing, I was going around a blocked area. I never knew this was illegal, if it is. I was ticketed for turning from the wrong lane. What can I do about this? I don't feel I should have been ticketed.

It sounds complicated but it also sounds as if you were doing everything possible to safely proceed around the "mess." You can hire an attorney or fight the ticket yourself. You will have to ask for a hearing within 30 days of receipt of the ticket in order to prevent your license from being suspended.

I handle traffic tickets if you want to set up an appointment with my office.
